Birthing Classes

Feel Confident, Informed, and Ready for Labor

Giving birth is one of the most life-changing experiences you’ll ever have—but it shouldn’t be overwhelming. Our birthing classes give you the knowledge, practical skills, and emotional support to help you feel prepared, calm, and confident on the big day.

Whether this is your first baby or you’re looking for a more empowering birth experience, our expert-led, interactive classes are designed to fit your needs, your birth plan, and your personal preferences.

Why take a birthing class?

Many parents enter labor feeling unprepared—and that can make the process more stressful. Our birthing classes are here to change that. You’ll learn:

  • What Actually Happens During Labor & Birth – No surprises! We’ll cover every stage of labor, from early contractions to delivery and recovery.

  • Pain Management & Coping Techniques – Discover breathing exercises, movement strategies, and comfort measures that work.

  • Your Birth Plan & Choices – Learn about medical interventions, natural birth options, and how to make informed decisions.

  • Partner & Support Person Involvement – Your birth partner will gain confidence in how to support you through labor.

  • Postpartum & Recovery Preparation – Because birth is just the beginning, we’ll also cover what to expect in the first hours and weeks after delivery.

What makes our classes different?

Not all birthing classes are the same. At After Birth, we focus on real-life, practical education that goes beyond textbook explanations.

  • Taught by Experienced Professionals – Led by trained birth educators, doulas, and experts who have supported countless births.

  • Hands-On Learning – More than just information, we teach you movement, breathing, and positions for labor.

  • Judgment-Free & Inclusive – No matter what kind of birth you want, we support YOUR choices.

Postpartum Readiness

Feel Confident, Informed, and Ready for Labor

You’ve planned your birth. You’ve packed your hospital bag. But have you prepared for what comes next?

Our Postpartum Readiness Workshop helps expecting parents understand what life actually looks like in the days and weeks after baby arrives—physically, emotionally, and practically. This isn’t a crash course in baby care. It’s a real, honest look at what you will need to heal, adjust, and thrive in your new role.

Why postpartum readiness matters.

Postpartum is often overlooked—and that’s exactly when many parents feel blindsided, overwhelmed, or isolated.
Preparing ahead of time helps reduce stress, improve recovery, and create a smoother transition into life with a newborn. When you know what to expect, what’s normal, and what kind of support to line up, you’re far more likely to feel calm, confident, and connected in the fourth trimester.

What you’ll learn:

In this workshop, we’ll walk you through:

✔️ What to expect physically & emotionally in the first 6 weeks
✔️ How to plan for rest, recovery, and realistic self-care
✔️ Basics of infant sleep, feeding, and soothing (without pressure or judgment)
✔️ How your relationship and identity might shift—and how to protect them
✔️ Building a postpartum support system (and why it matters more than you think)
✔️ Signs of postpartum mood disorders & when to seek help
✔️ Creating a personalized postpartum plan that actually works for your life

Birth Doula Support

Expert Guidance & Emotional Support for Your Birth Experience

Bringing a baby into the world is one of the most powerful moments of your life. A birth doula is your personal advocate, emotional support system, and expert guide during labor and delivery. Whether you’re planning a hospital birth, home birth, or something in between, our compassionate, experienced doulas help you feel empowered, supported, and in control.

What does a birth doula do?

From the moment you hire us, we are here to educate, support, and guide you through birth. Here’s what you can expect:

Before Birth:

  • Personalized Birth Planning – We’ll help you create a birth plan that aligns with your goals and values.

  • Education & Preparation – Learn about your options, comfort techniques, and what to expect.

  • Emotional Support – We listen, validate, and provide reassurance every step of the way.

During Labor & Birth:

  • Continuous Physical & Emotional Support – We stay by your side from early labor to postpartum.

  • Pain Management Techniques – Hands-on support with movement, breathing, massage, and positioning.

  • Advocacy & Communication – We help you make informed choices and ensure your voice is heard.

  • Partner Support – We guide your birth partner on how to best assist you.

Why have a birth doula?

Labor can be unpredictable, and while doctors and nurses focus on the medical side, your doula is there for YOU. Studies show that having a birth doula can lead to:

  • Shorter Labors – Continuous support has been linked to reduced labor times.

  • Less Need for Interventions – Parents with doulas are less likely to need Pitocin, epidurals, or C-sections.

  • Better Birth Outcomes – Doulas help reduce stress and increase overall satisfaction with the birth experience.

  • More Confidence & Control – You’ll have an expert by your side, helping you navigate every decision.

Postpartum Doula Support

Because the First Hours & Days After Birth Matter Most

Bringing your baby home is exciting—but it can also be overwhelming. The early postpartum period is full of adjustments, from physical recovery to learning your baby’s cues and establishing feeding routines. You don’t have to do it alone.

At After Birth, we specialize in The Pivotal Hours, a unique approach to postpartum support that focuses on the most critical hours after birth.

What is the Pivotal Hours?

Unlike traditional postpartum doula services that provide extended care over weeks or months, The Pivotal Hours Program is designed to provide highly focused, expert support during the most critical hours after birth.

Why choose After Birth’s Postpartum Support?

  • Holistic & Judgment-Free Care – No matter your birth story or parenting style, we are here to support YOU.

  • Evidence-Based Guidance – Our support is based on real postpartum research, maternal mental health best practices, and years of hands-on experience.

  • A Community That Cares – Beyond doula support, we offer community, connection, and encouragement for new parents.

The Birth of After Birth

After Birth is built from the need for a safe place for mothers, and a welcoming space for families, to truly be supported - mind, body, and soul.

I want you to be able to speak openly about your most vulnerable thoughts and the challenges you face before and after birth.

Speaking mom to mom - we don't always pause to realize how much our mind, our body, and even our soul change after giving birth. We say things like, "Oh, I'm going to bounce right back after having my baby," or "Postpartum isn't THAT bad."

Don’t get me wrong, for some, it may be that simple. You may adjust very well to the newness of life with a baby… I thought I would.

But for me.. it was NOT easy rebalancing my life after giving birth.

In fact, after birth, it seemed my life started to unravel.

Feelings of guilt, worry, and even shame started to creep up on me.

Let's not EVEN talk about the feeling of being unprepared to raise a child.

I battled a TERRIBLE case of baby blues, also known as postpartum depression. Oftentimes saying to myself, "Man, if I could just find someone who truly understands what I'm going through right now. I feel like I'm losing it!"

I searched high and low to find SOMEBODY, ANYBODY, that would support and help me process these thoughts, but to no avail… and from this struggle, this desire to provide others with the support I found to be a need, I built After Birth.

At After Birth, you and your family are provided with educational resources and support that not only help in self-advocacy but also give you the power to make healthier, informed decisions during childbirth and beyond.

Today, After Birth is more than one person's mission. We are a collective of 22+ trained doulas, childbirth educators, and maternal health professionals serving families across Dallas-Fort Worth and Ohio. We hold Medicaid provider status in both states, maintain a contract with Hospital Systems, and proudly serve as a co-chair in the CAN BE Coalition through Dallas County Health and Human Services.

I am thankful that I am now the person I so desperately needed way back then to mothers and their families today.
